Anime as a Separate Media Type (With Dedicated Lists)
In current state we have 2 types Movies and Shows leaving Anime scattered across both forcing users to switch back and forth. It’d be a huge quality-of-life improvement to have Anime be categorized as a separate type (Like Simkl) with it’s own watchlist, history, favorites, and recommendations (in future). This will make managing anime much easier. Key Considerations: Grouping: Unlike Simkl, which splits anime into separate entries per season, keep all seasons grouped under a single title entry (similar to Trakt or TMDB) to avoid clutter. API Integration: Ensure future API endpoints reflect this architecture by returning Movies, Shows, and Anime watchlist/history/favorites separately. Optional: Include an option to "Hide Anime as a separate category" for casual viewers who prefer keeping all animated movies and shows merged into the standard Movies and Shows sections.
Smart Lists
It would be useful to add the ability to create smart lists that are automatically populated with movies and TV shows based on conditions selected by the user. For example, a user could create a smart list called “DC Movies” and configure it to automatically include every movie with the DC tag. After that, whenever the user assigns the DC tag to a movie, it would automatically appear in the corresponding smart list without needing to be added manually. As part of this feature, users could also create and assign their own custom tags to movies and TV shows. Smart list conditions could include: custom tags genres TV networks and streaming services, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, or Disney+ content type movies or TV shows watch status release year rating other available filters. Users could create smart lists using either their own custom tags or standard filters available on the site. It would also be helpful to support multiple conditions within a single smart list. For example: Tag: DC Content type: Movie Watch status: Not watched In this case, only unwatched movies with the DC tag would be automatically added to the list. This feature would make it possible to create automatically updated collections for different themes, such as Marvel and DC movies, Netflix series, anime, releases from a specific year, or content the user plans to watch. When a tag is removed or an item no longer matches the selected conditions, the movie or TV show should also be automatically removed from the smart list.
Segmented series progress bar
Trakt V2 had a wonderful presentation for progress in shows one might watch out of order, or otherwise skip around. For me it would be series like Last Week Tonight, which I wouldn’t catch every episode of. The progress bar shown below such series would have gaps in it representing the unwatched episodes. As a simple example, let’s say Demo Series has 10 episodes, and I’ve watched episodes 1, 2, 3, 6, and 8. The progress bar would look like this (here’s hoping ASCII block elements work on this feedback site!): ▓▓▓░░▓░▓░░ That makes it super easy to see not only that I’m not caught up, but that some of my missing progress is before the most recent episode I saw. It’s disappointing that I couldn’t find ANY screenshot examples of this from the old Trakt UI in image search. I could only find screenshots of the awful redesign, except for one shot of the old progress page that didn’t have the segments option turned on (solid bars, no gaps). But I will come back and post a proper example if I ever do find one! If I’ve missed an existing idea, please forgive me! I scrolled through all search results for “progress” and didn’t see anything like this.
Automatic scheduled data backups
Allow user to schedule daily/weekly/monthly backups of all data, local or online. Ideally, these backups can then also be used to re-import into WeTrakr. This would give peace of mind in case of data loss, or if by mistake the user deletes important data and needs to recover it.
Separate anime and animation as genres
Anime is currently listed under the “Animation” genre. Media culture separates Japanese anime from Western animation, and I think WeTrakr should reflect that
Collection
It might be interesting to add a "collection list" to indicate which movies and TV shows you own on DVD, Blu-ray, digital, etc.
"Wrapped" spotify/letterboxd-like before the end of the year
Each year, around mid-december, Spotify/Trakt/Letterboxd and other websites/services release their annual “wrapped”, which is the moment where users can see and share on social media all of their stats of the year WeTrakr already has this through the Stats tab in profile, so my idea is to send a e-mail to users before the end of the year with all of these stats + being able to generate their own “card” (like Spotify does) with a resume of their most important stats to share in social, which would indirectly promote WeTrakr to non-users
Blur spoilers
Can we have an option to blur potential spoilers of the movies and tv series? Some people doesn’t want to see description of the movie/tv series or even name of the next episode Also maybe images, videos and trailer I think it should be optional thing in settings, not default behaviour
Last 30 days overview
It would be neat if we could have an overview of the watch time and genres we’ve seen for the last thirty days. A bit like this:
Sci-Fi and Fantasy Genre
Add Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres for discovering.

Hide shows on Calendar Discover
I like going there sometimes to look for new shows but it’s filled with a lot of daily news/talk shows from all over the world. It would be nice to have a way to hide them for good. Changing the min rating does hide some of them but it could also hide some shows.
Action: not in_any_list Slow
It might be because I have a lot of shows, but the action to find shows not in any list takes several seconds to return results.
Dropped/On Hold shows not faded in "discover" tab of calendar
When I am on the “discover” tab of my calendar, shows marked as Dropped or On Hold are not faded, even when “dropped” and “on hold” is checked in the “Fade items by state” settings. they do fade when the red x is set on an option though, so “fade everything except watched” fades both dropped and on hold as well as everything else (except watched). So it works as intended then.

Add a monthly calendar
It would be great to have an option for a monthly calendar view in addition to the current weekly one, in particular for the Following section, since Following wouldn't have as many items, and being able to see what is coming up, for example my show premieres in the next month would be very helpful.
Notify Watching Show is Cancelled
I don’t know the best way to surface this, but too often a show I am watching gets cancelled and I don’t know until maybe years later when I wonder “what ever happened to that show?”
Profile Privacy should not be a VIP *only* Feature
On the “What does VIP unlock” page, under Profile and personalization, the following feature is listed: Profile privacy: control who can see your profile page. This currently implies that profile privacy is a VIP-exclusive feature. Profile privacy should not be a VIP-exclusive feature. Privacy should be enabled by default for all users, regardless of their subscription level. Users should have control over who can view their profile without needing to upgrade to VIP.
Ignore initial articles like "A", "An", and "The" in title sorting
When sorting alphabetically, it’d be more logical if titles like The Dark Knight sorted into D instead T. This prevents an unmanageable cluster of titles starting with the same word, and it makes finding items easier when a user cannot remember if the title includes an article.
Add option to "Refresh Data" source from TMDB
Inspired by Trakt, it should be a VIP feature to not overload with requests to refresh data Could be useful to have thumbnails, posters and episode titles more quickly in WeTrakr
Watched Episodes in Stats
The stats for the current week, the years or all time only show Watched Movies and Watched Shows in the graph at the top and the numbers below. While the hours are correct of all episodes, it’s not common to watch a full show on a day/in a week. The graph and the stats below should also show the number of episodes played. (The hours are there and seem correct, but it’s also irritating to see 7h watched this week but 0 shows, since no show has been completed, would be better with the episode count).
Notification system for new releases and updates
Currently, when a new movie or the first episode of a new show gets released, even when marked as plan to watch, it will just disappear from the upcoming list unless they start watching it, and so, it will be easily forgotten about it righter after with a notification system, the user will still have a reminder for new movies and premieres of new shows that are marked as planned to watch the user could opt-in to receive updates for: New shows/season premiere 1.1. If not yet watched, receive updates for subsequent episodes as long until the user removes the show from planning or they opt-out from receiving new notifications about the show. New movies and related entries (new movie or show that is part of the same collection as previously watched movie/show, for example, user watched 007 movies, so he will receive a notification about the addition of a new 007 movie) WeTrakr updates New followers likes/follows on their own user lists profile level up all this without ever leaving the website, as a integrated experience (picture depicts "MyAnimeList" notification system)
Enable click+hold (tap+hold on mobile) to see options to mark watched
The way this would work is: click/tap marks something as watched always using current date and time, and click & hold (or tap & hold) shows options with calendar to pick a different date/time. Trakt and other sites have this, and I find it very useful.
'new on digital' and 'Latest Premieres' hasn't updated in ages
Neither of these have updated in a very long time (I don’t think I’ve seen them update once since joining) even though there has been plenty of premieres and also digital releases that have happened since the 27th of March.
Calendar filter for Finales
For both Discover and Following, I would live a Finales filter. I mark and follow lots of shows that look interesting, but won’t actually start watching until all episodes have been released and there has been ample time for people to rate and comment on the show. So I count on being able to find all the finales. We already have a premieres filter, but to me finales are even more important.
